Upgrade my old ProX2 for about €90 is very affordable, and have abilities not in Sonar.

I did the change of serial number from P3 to P2 by contacting their support. Went smooth and not needing activation refresh every month.
- to be sure I did this before installing and activating
Two themes are installed, a darker and a lighter. But they did not go overboard with dark theme like some daws do, so like the looks of it.
Install was solid and up and running in no time.
- though it install Magix Low Latency 2016 driver that has to be removed not to interfere with Sonar for example
- registry HKLM->Software->Asio just delete, and also WOW6432 side
- found on internet how to do that
- Sonar got a popup every start otherwise talking about this driver even though not used in Sonar at all.
- so running RME drivers only
Demoproject was full of things visible not needed, really, so used half the day to get rid of those.
- just plain simple colors and clips and clearly see active track and clip
- or as Magix prefer to call everything "object" this and that
- loads of hilights of all crossfades in this demo project that just irritate
Undocking mixer to second monitor had some issues and using the full screen.
- you got 1/3 of screen used even though mixer background was full screen
- workaround, reduce width of background until channels are affected, then increase width to full screen again, then channels follow.
- tried make a preset on the buttons and will see today if that works
Similar happend sizing mixer in height, that it just wouldn't expand. then suddenly it did.
But it's really major options to customize to liking.
- both visually and toolbars and stuff
- a lot of presets you can make to change things quickly
- menu and shortcuts fully customizable
- A bit of "reaper feel" over it but always Help available where you are and local too, not needing to be online
Since all is stable and solid it's just a learning curve, I'm good. Not a good first daw for somebody and don't remember much about ProX2 from 10 years ago(which was seriously buggy with Waves VST3).
Not sure why Magix use so much programmer terms, like creating a new project does not exist, it's called Virtual Project for some reason. And alternatives in menu is crowded with "object" this and that.
- they just confuse people
Will test how performance is with video today. And will calibrate recording metronome roundtrip to see what value it needs to adjust clips with. My RME Digiface USB has not AD/DA to report to ASIO, so must be done manually.
