To all Osmose Owners
I have created an Osmose controller script for Bitwig. It is an adaptation if the Roli script, especially tailored for the Osmose. Now Bitwig finds the script automatically as being for the Osmose, supporting both Midi Inputs and Outputs. I've also left out all commands of the Roli script that were not part of Bitwig's API command set.
How to install:
If your installation path of Bitwig Studio is e.g. C:\Program Files\Bitwig Studio,
- navigate to the 'resources' folder
- create a subfolder called 'osmose' into that 'resources' folder.
- copy the attached script file into the 'osmose' folder.
Now the Osmose will automatically be added as a device to Bitwig the next time you start Bitwig. (TIP: If you want Bitwig to automatically add a new device/controller, you can select the option 'Add detected controller automatically' in SETTINGS>CONTROLLERS if you have not already done so).
With this script the Osmose will show all Pitch, Channel pressure and Timbre data (cc74) in it's editor!
How to use:
- Create a new Instrument track in Bitwig
- Select the 'HW instrument' as the instrument on that track.
- Set the Midi port and audio Inputs for the Hardware Instrument (you can create audio inputs in the SETTINGS>AUDIO)
Tip: If you use Osmose Midi Port 2 as input port (recommended), then in the info panel set channel to (receive) ALL and (keep the) SAME in order to have Bitwig use and show the different Midi channels (MPE) in separate colors. Otherwise (if you use port 1) set channel to (receive) ALL and send it to ONE channel of your choice (e.g. 1).
Have fun creating!
